Character Name: Ken Amada
Series: Persona 3
Canon Point: Post-game (and post-Animus)

AU information/differences from canon:

Ken spent his early years with his mother, after his father ran off shortly before he was born. His mother was killed in a terrible accident, and Ken tried to explain to the police about the 'monster' that had murdered his mother and the boy responsible, but they didn't listen. Rather than go through the process of trying to find relatives that clearly didn't care to take him in, or be put in a children's home, Ken ran away.

It was tough living on his own for a while. He stole as little as he could, and used his natural awkward charm to get food or money off of people. He found out who - Shinjiro Aragaki, and made his way out to Tatsumi Port Island again, where he waited.

A man named Shuji Ikutsuki found him, telling him that he had a special power - one that Shinjiro also had. He suggested he join a group called SEES, but Ken wasn't so sure about it and escaped. While he was trying to form a plan, a group named Strega found him. Strega, in this canon, was Minato, Jin, and Chidori - Minato's sister Minami ran SEES instead, and Minato had been taken after the car accident and experimented on, having half of Death inside of him. They told him that SEES had good intentions but what they were doing was hurting people and that they were under the control of an evil company, and as proof that he could fight against them, showed him how to summon his Persona.

Ken agreed to go with them rather than Ikutsuki. The rest of the group tried to distract him from most of the dirty jobs. On an October night, when Strega headed out to try to stop SEES from defeating yet another giant Shadow, Ken ditched the mission to track down Shinjiro. Catching Shinjiro alone, he confronted him and tried to attack him - but Takaya, a former member of Strega, shot Shinjiro before Ken could attack him.

Changes in character from previous game: Ken spent a very long time in the Tower of Animus alongside a lot of people from different worlds. He spent a while being prickly towards them, but eventually formed deep friendships with people, even going so far as to be somewhat adopted by a lot of them. He fought against the cruel experiments of the people who ran the Tower, as well as the mental and physical torture inflicted by them and some of the more violent residents. He faced many things - Shinjiro himself (whom he has grown to forgive and truly believe it was an accident), his own insecurities, and the threat of the loss of everyone's worlds. Through it all though, he learned how to trust people and not close himself off as much. However, despite his attempts, he does shut people out - he may listen to their input and take their advice, but he has serious problems with shutting people out emotionally.

tl;dr shit happened, it was fucked up. Ruana's dead and everyone partied.

Then he went home and the rest of canon happened - Minato and Minako sacrificed themselves to save the world. Everyone else survived - Chidori is not dead, nor is Jin, though neither have long because of the suppressants.
Personality: The first thing someone might notice about Ken is his short stature - which, unfortunately, is something that Ken hates. He acts older than his age as a result, trying to act like an adult as much as he can and prove to people that he should be taken seriously despite his age. He doesn't like being doubted, because when his mother was attacked, no one would believe that she was killed by a Persona, though he didn't know what it was at the time.

His mother's death affected him deeply, and his initial Persona reflected his reaction to that event - Nemesis. Ken holds grudges, though not as much as he used to, and does what he can to pay people back for what happens to him if it's bad. The fact that Strega had a site dealing with grudges and revenge is kind of funny to him... though it's also sad that there are people who just can't pay for their actions without getting someone else involved.

Around some people, he comes off as a rather shy person, someone who acts well beyond his age. He doesn't really like to be involved with or at least be seen enjoying childish things, because he wants people to take him seriously so badly that he thinks people will think badly about his credibility if he's seen acting childish. He has a strong sense of right and wrong.. it just might not always follow exactly what other people think that sense should be. He knows that people - including himself - sometimes have to do what's commonly seen as 'wrong', but he's trying to follow the better path now and make sure that he's not one of the people who has to be punished. That said, he still has less of a problem with following the more effective path even if it's more dangerous or violent. He's also got a bit of a tendency towards bluntness and a bit of rude language, from both his time in the Tower and the influence of Strega.

Perhaps more importantly now, though, Ken has become even more of a person willing to take charge, whether people want to follow him because of his age or not. If there's something that needs to be done, he'll do it, even if it's unpleasant. It's not as if he won't complain about it, but if Minato didn't take charge of things Strega would have never gotten anywhere, and if people in the Tower didn't take charge they'd still be stuck there. His time in Animus has instilled him with more confidence in himself - and less of a cocky confidence (though he has that at times) but more of a genuine confidence that comes with knowing that he can and will do the things he sets out to do.

This confidence, however, has come with the price of dealing with the nightmarish experiments and 'games' from the Tower. His greatest fear is being powerless, alone, and isolated - with anything related to surgery as a close second. Out of all of the administrators in the Tower, Jason (the resident 'mad scientist') was the one that frightened him the most. If he fears he's getting too emotionally involved with someone or something, he'll close himself off. Ironically, this can appear as an almost clinical detachment - just get things done and deal with the result.

Ken fights with a spear to make up for his shortness, and drinks milk to try to get himself to grow taller (so much so that he gets sick from drinking so much milk). He also drinks coffee because that's what adults do. Secretly, he loves the show Featherman R and collects the figures when he can get the money.
Powers/Abilities: Ken is extremely acrobatic, fighting with a spear and spinning around on it. He can also climb fairly well, considering how he used to have to sneak into places to get food sometimes.

Of course, his most notable power is his ability to summon his Persona, Dike, with his Evoker. (He went through a different sort of resolution in the Tower, leading to a different final Persona.)
